Montebello | Mercedes Sprinter 4x4 LWB Campervan
Meet Montebello — a custom-built Mercedes Sprinter 4x4 campervan designed for going further, staying longer and making the journey just as memorable as the destination.
Built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4x4 LWB High Roof, Montebello brings together serious off-grid capability, flexible living and a warm, beautifully considered interior. Custom built for a customer who wanted the freedom to explore without giving up the comforts of home, this campervan is a great example of what can be created when thoughtful design meets capable engineering.
From the moment you step inside, Montebello feels calm and inviting. Rainforest cabinetry is paired with Shell cabinetry bases, natural Brazilwood benchtops and splashbacks, Gunbarrel leather upholstery and a warm Cajou Honey timber-look floor. Black accents and tapware add definition, while carefully integrated LED lighting creates a soft glow throughout the interior.
It is refined enough for slow mornings and quiet evenings, yet built around the freedom of a 4x4 campervan made to venture beyond the beaten track.
Designed for Flexible Living
At the heart of Montebello's interior is a generous U-shaped lounge, creating a comfortable space to relax, dine, work or simply take in the view.
When it's time to sleep, the electric queen bed lowers smoothly from above and settles over the lounge, transforming the living area into a generous sleeping space without sacrificing the usability of the van during the day.
This flexible layout makes excellent use of the Sprinter's LWB interior, giving Montebello the feeling of a genuine living space while retaining the practicality needed for life on the road.
The result is a campervan that adapts throughout the day — lounge in the morning, dining space in the afternoon and a comfortable bedroom when night falls.
A Warm, Natural Interior
Montebello's interior palette was designed to feel connected to the places it was built to explore.
The Brazilwood benchtop and splashback bring warmth and natural texture to the kitchen, complemented by Rainforest cabinetry doors and Shell cabinetry bases. Gunbarrel leather upholstery adds depth and a premium feel, while the Cajou Honey timber-look flooring carries warmth throughout the living space.
The ensuite continues the understated palette with a contemporary Concrete finish, complemented by black standard tapware.
It's a combination that feels equally at home beside the coast, beneath the trees or parked somewhere far beyond the edge of town.
A Kitchen Built for Life on the Road
The kitchen has been designed to make everyday living simple, practical and enjoyable.
A generous Brazilwood benchtop provides plenty of usable preparation space, while the deep kitchen sink, 190L Bushman fridge/freezer, Dometic rangehood and built-in induction cooktop give Montebello everything needed to prepare meals on the road.
For even more flexibility outside, a slide-out kitchen tray extends the cooking space into the great outdoors. Whether you're setting up beneath the awning for an afternoon barbecue or keeping things compact inside on a rainy evening, Montebello makes it easy to choose how you want to live.
An NCE microwave provides another layer of convenience for longer trips, while the thoughtful storage throughout the cabinetry keeps everything organised and within easy reach.
Your Own Private Ensuite
Long days exploring are made considerably better when you don't have to rely on the nearest campground. Montebello includes a dedicated ensuite with a Dometic cassette toilet, providing the convenience and privacy of bathroom facilities wherever the road takes you.
An external shower adds even more flexibility, particularly after a day at the beach, on the trails or exploring dusty backroads.
Built for Off-Grid Adventure
While Montebello is comfortable, its real strength comes from what happens when the powered sites disappear. This off-grid campervan has been equipped with a substantial electrical system designed to support extended travel away from traditional caravan parks and mains power.
Three 180W solar panels provide renewable energy generation, while a 620Ah custom lithium battery provides significant onboard energy storage. A 3000W Redarc inverter allows the electrical system to run a wide range of appliances and comforts, giving Montebello the independence to spend more time away from the grid.
A 231L of fresh water and 50L grey water tank further support self-sufficient touring, while the 12V water pump delivers reliable water flow throughout the van. It's the kind of setup that lets you look at a quiet stretch of coastline, a remote campsite or a secluded bush track and think: we could stay here for a while.
Comfort Wherever You Park
Adventure doesn't have to mean roughing it. Montebello features a Dometic FreshJet air conditioner to keep the interior comfortable when temperatures rise, while double-glazed windows with integrated blinds and insect screens help create a comfortable environment throughout the day and night.
A roof skylight with blind and insect screen brings additional natural light and ventilation into the living space.
When evening arrives, integrated LED strip lighting creates a warm, relaxed atmosphere throughout the van — perfect for winding down after a day on the road.
Entertainment is taken care of with a 24-inch Smart TV, Fusion stereo and two speakers, while USB-A and USB-C charging points keep everyday devices powered and ready for whatever tomorrow brings.
Thoughtful Storage, Inside and Out
Good campervan design is often about the things you don't immediately notice.
Montebello has been designed with practical storage throughout, including a dedicated wardrobe with automatic lighting and hanging space, while soft-close drawers and carefully integrated into the cabinetry.
A pull-out bin keeps waste tucked neatly away, while the flexible kitchen storage helps keep the living area clear and uncluttered.
Outside, the Fiamma awning creates an instant extension to the living space, providing shade and shelter when you're enjoying the surroundings rather than sitting inside the van.
Ready for the Road Less Travelled
Montebello's Mercedes Sprinter 4x4 platform brings another dimension to the build.
Finished with Black Rhino all-terrain tyres and a spare wheel carrier, this isn't simply a luxury interior fitted into a van — it is a capable touring platform designed to take you further.
The combination of 4x4 capability, all-terrain tyres, substantial off-grid electrical capacity and onboard water means Montebello is equally suited to extended touring, remote escapes and spontaneous weekends away.
And because it's built on the LWB High Roof Sprinter platform, there is enough interior space to make those longer journeys genuinely comfortable.
